Workshop outline

During fit classes you will learn how to adjust a paper pattern to fit your body shape.

  • Step 1  The pattern used is McCalls 2718 training pattern and is supplied to you on the day. It contains all bust sizes A to DD. Grided tissue paper for alterations will also be supplied.
  • Step 2  To make these alterations you must have the items on your "to bring list" because you will be cutting and slashing patterns (which will be attached to the Baraque Cardboard Cutting Table) and inserting grided tissue and taping it down to give your correct fit.
  • Step 3  All alterations are recorded on work sheets provided.
  • Step 4  A short slide viewing to familiarize you with the pattern and terms used.
  • Step 5  You will measure yourself and compare your measurements to the pattern chart to determine your size.
  • Step 6  All the bodices for fit are made up in gingham in bust sizes A to DD. Once your size is ascertained you try on these toilles to get the best bust fit.
  • Step 7  You will then cut out your bodice in your appropriate bust size and tape all convex curves.
  • Step 8  This prepared bodice will be fitted to you, and the necessary alterations will be made.
  • Step 9 Then you will take the B cup bodice (which is the size usually in a regular pattern) and learn how to do a bust adjustment, if this is relevant to you.
